Movie Review: Dr. Strange

Dr. Strange
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Rachel McAdams, Tilda Swinton, and Chiwetel Ejiofor
The Doctor is in! Marvel has struck gold once again with the introduction of Dr. Strange! I must confess that I don't know the backstory of this magnificent doctor but I was surprised to see what arrogance he has. Surprisingly enough, Strange's arrogance is his doom and saving grace. In the beginning of the film he has the attitude of "no one can touch me, I'm that good," persona which leads to his downfall. After his near fatal car crash, he is left with the shakes which forces him to step back from his beloved profession. You would think an experience like that would awaken the less arrogant more "live in the moment" Strange but instead he chooses the bitter, gotta get better fast road.
When he meets the Ancient One (portrayed by the brilliant Tilda Swinton), he sees life in a whole new light. Though he is a very intelligent man, for the first time he uses his head. The arrogance which plagued him served as a confidence high, giving him the strength and concentration to control his powers rather quickly. He begins to use his knowledge to serve others, protect others and not so much for himself. You see a maturity growth though he is still not your typical superhero. He's more like "what's the problem? how do we fix it? Well let's get to it!" attitude which serves him well. Without giving too much away, it is clear we're going to see much more of the Doctor in upcoming Marvel films.
The casting is superb and did not miss a beat. Marvel definitely has the best of the best. Hire me please!😀I thoroughly enjoy Marvel's approach to bringing these characters to life. I may be a bit backwards but now I want to read the comics! Well done! If you haven't seen it, make sure you do! It's mind blowing!
