Stacy Dash Getting Bashed

Stacy Dash, mostly well known to me for playing Dionne in "Clueless," has gotten torn apart for her comments about the Oscar boycott. I, apparently, interpreted it differently than most. I didn't take it as she was bashing BET or black history month. I took as she was saying that if we want to be integrated instead of segregated then we need to get rid of BET and the Image awards. Her argument goes hand in hand with Whoopi's point on the view. Yes there is a reason why channels like BET are in place because the majority of major networks have all white cast television programs which Whoopi is not wrong. However neither is Stacy. If we truly want to be an integrated society and erase the color lines once and for all we need to be more accepting of each other and our differences. We need to include more diverse shows into our major networks, teach history as a whole, all history. It's 2016. Why is this still an issue? As I've said, I interpreted Stacy's argu

Presidential Candidates What a Joke!

I think it's time someone needs to take this seriously. I mean all I've been hearing about are Donald Trump, Hilary Clinton, Ted Cruz, and Bernie Sanders. Are these the best we can do? Absolutely not. It's a joke is what it is. Bernie Sanders is the best one of all of them. As for the Donald Trump spectacle, because that's what it is, it's a spectacle. First of all having the ability to speak doesn't qualify you to be the leader of this country. Oh did you people not get the memo? You're leading a country not a bunch of high school kids to their prom. This is not a popularity contest or rather it shouldn't be. I don't see one of these sorry good for nothing but whining candidates caring about this country. They care about themselves and having that power. Well here we go you schmucks. First the racial/sexist card: "Obama is a great president." You ready? Just because he man is black doesn't make him a good President. The white man alre

Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson? Uh...NO

Michael Jackson was a very unique individual. It takes more than just a great actor to bring him to life. The individual has got to capture Michael's whole entity and that person is not Joseph Fiennes. What was the decision behind this? It is an outrage I'm sorry. Get Michael impersonators but not Joseph Fiennes. Joseph is a great actor but not for this role. I recall shortly after Michael's death VH1 but a sorry excuse for a biopic of Michael. The actor just did some stupid random moves during the concert sequences and that was a show. After that they focused on the negative about him, making him appear to be the "weirdo" the world described him as. Haven't they insulted his memory enough? I think they need some recasting. What do y'all think?

Boycott the Oscars? A Bit of an Overreaction

Why does it always have to be a racial issue? I have always been one who doesn't consider the color of one's skin and with the current holiday being Martin Luther King Day, can we please erase that racial line? I'm not saying racism doesn't exist but it happens for all people not just blacks. Concerning the Oscars, I don't agree half the time with who they nominate but I'm not about to boycott because I don't agree with them. Johnny Depp was completely snubbed and his Oscar is long overdue but it doesn't mean I'm going to boycott. I also agree that Michael B. Jordan was robbed of a nomination in "Creed" but I'm not about to boycott the Oscars. I think it's more important to make the argument that these people's talent were overlooked than the color of their skin. Could we not play devil's advocate and say that these people in turn are being racist by raising the color line and not simply celebrating the talents of those whom

Opinions & Feelings on Netflix's "Making a Murderer"

It appears that the latest fad around the country is binge watching the Netflix documentary Making a Murderer . I don't necessarily participate in the latest fads but this one had me intrigued especially when everyone is talking about on Facebook, signing petitions to free this man. I had to see what the fuss was about. So all in all as a broadcasting student and my own personal study into film, I feel we need to view this with an open mind. Why, you ask? It's important to remember that a life has been taken and not to lose the victim in this. The other thing to remember is that films are made to be edited. The filmmaker has a specific message they want to send to the world and so edit their footage to convey that message whether it be key interviews, phrases, visuals, etc. This documentary is no exception. Now for what I think of all this. First the fact that Steve Avery spent 18 years of his life in prison for a crime he didn't commit is absurd. It shows that our justice

Music Review-Blackstar by David Bowie

Image
In tribute to the great David Bowie, I've decided to review his final album Blackstar . First I want to say that David Bowie is a monumental entertainer just like Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, and Elvis Presley. The shocking news of his death has brought meaning to his final album which just released on January 8th, his birthday. Not many artists have the opportunity to end his career the way he did, with an album that says it all. Granted it wasn't intentional or was it? The fact is he knew the progression of the cancer at this point and being the private person he was, no one knew of his health but those closest to him. This album is the final brilliance of a man who gave his all to his music, his fans, and most importantly his family. There is however an eerie tone to the album especially with the singles "Blackstar" and "Lazarus." The videos for both singles are also haunting. Knowing what we know now, I can see the strength of the visualizations i
