Restaurant Review: La Dulce Vita Courthouse Bakery
La Dolce Vita Courthouse Bakery is a charming little bakery in Lancaster City located across the street from the Lancaster County Courthouse. When taking a stroll down Duke Street or needing a break from a case, La Dolce Vita is the place to be.
Be aware that the name can be deceiving. It's not a bakery for the courthouse and it's not just a bakery. On my visit with my husband on September 22nd, we found they sell more than baked goods.
Their sandwiches, salads and sides are simply mouthwatering. I ordered their roast beef BLT and antipasti salad while my husband ordered their pastrami and cheese sandwich. It sounds like a basic order but the flavors are anything but.
We took a seat outside at one of their charming little black tables. It's great for people watching and just enjoying your surroundings. It may be clear that you are in the city but it gives you the comfort of feeling like you're in a whole separate world.
The staff is very friendly that even on your first visit you feel like an old friend. Their sandwiches melt in your mouth.
The roast beef BLT just melted in my mouth. It was like a song that came to life as soon as it hit my taste buds. It was like no other sandwich I had tasted in my life. You can go many places to get a great tasting sub but if you want a masterpiece of a sandwich, pick up the roast beef BLT. It's a heavenly piece of food.
The pastrami sandwich my husband got was equally as good. The bread (toasted) had a nice soft crunch to it. At first it may look like the bread will overpower the filling but not at all. Pastrami, cheese and the perfectly buttered bread was the perfect dance couple lightly dancing across your mouth.
The antipasti was a bit bitter with the Italian dressing but it was still satisfying nonetheless. I do caution that it can be on the pricey side depending on what you get. The sandwiches were around $7.95 a piece but for the size and flavor, definitely worth it. I'm not sure how much the antipasti was but for 2 sandwiches, 1 medium antipasti, and 2 drinks it came to $28. Like I said, a little on the pricey side but well worth it.
If you find yourself wandering around Lancaster City or tending to a case in the courthouse be sure to visit this fabulous bakery. They have beautiful pastries and pasta as well! Stop on by La Dulce Vita today and treat your taste buds to a party it will never forget!
