Movie Review: The Kissing Booth

Image
The Kissing Booth Starring: Joey King, Molly Ringwald Most films that follow the journey to two friends usually end up in them splitting ways, getting together, or just having happily ever after as friendship soulmates (non-romantic). This is not that film. Joey King plays Elle, a young lady blossoming into herself. In other words, she's finding herself and in ways mostly has. Elle is strong, vibrant, and her own person. Her best friend Lee, well very much his own person as well. It's almost like they defined each other. They're the type of best friends who could easily get lost in each other or in Elle and Lee's case, their friend rules. The biggest rule is rule #9 which pretty much forbids them from dating the other's siblings. Unfortunately Elle develops a major crush on Lee's brother Noah. The question becomes will she betray her friend's rule and follow her heart? Maybe but sometimes fate has a funny way making things happen. For a school fundrai

Movie Review: Like Father

Image
Like Father Starring Kelsey Grammer and Kristen Bell A heartwarming story about second chances. The delightful Kristen Bell plays workaholic Rachel Hamilton who gets left at the altar on her wedding day and to make matters worse, an unexpected, uninvited guest appears in the crowd; her long lost father, Harry (played by the charming Kelsey Grammer). After conducting business on her wedding day, Rachel's fiance, Owen, leaves her at the altar. In the same instance, her father decides to disappear as well. Faced with a honeymoon already booked, no husband, and the mysterious reappearance of her father, Rachel invites her dad on her honeymoon (both drunk of course). After realizing what happened, Rachel and Harry agree to cut the cruise short and grab a flight back to their respectable homes. However through their time on the cruise, they begin to form a real father daughter bond while making some friends along the way. Harry gets a second chance with his daughter and Rachel gets

Movie Review-Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Image
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Nick Jonas How can you have Jumanji without the late great Robin Williams? Not every reboot of a film and/or series is a good one or a smart one however this film, I am happy to admit, proved me wrong. As we know from the original film, there was closure so there was no need for the reprisal of those specific characters but like most films who reinvent the original story, I expected it to flop even with its talented cast . Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle centers around four school kids who bond in detention (a reminder of Breakfast Club anyone?). During their clean up task they come across a game console. As predicted they succumb to their curiosity and begin playing the game. Once they accept acceptance of the players, the game sucks them in placing them in the center of the jungle. They find that their mission is to return the Jaguar's eye to lift the curse on Jumanji. What mak

Movie Review: The Dark Tower

Image
The Dark Tower Starring Matthew McConaughey & Idris Elba Idris Elba plays Roland, the lone gunslinger whose main duty is to protect the dark tower from the man in black otherwise known as Walter portrayed by our favorite, dashing Southern gentleman Matthew McConaughey. Walter's goal is to use the minds of children to take down the tower so he may raise havoc into any world of his choosing. After Walter destroys his father, Roland starts his journey to face Walter and avenge his father's death. However his plans are spoiled when a young boy named Jake enters his world in hopes of figuring out his visions and destroy the man in black. The two team up on a quest to save the dark tower, children, and the world. I must admit I haven't read the book but the movie was superb. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and Idris Elba is the perfect gunslinger; mysterious, strong, and yes, sexy too. He was charming, daring as the gunslinger; even taking a fatherly role to young
