TV Review: Fuller House Season 4 *Spoilers*

Image
Fuller House Season 4 Starring Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, Scott Weinger , Juan Pablo Di Pace, Michael Campion, Elias Harger, Soni Bringas, Dashiell and Fox Messitt, and Adam Hagenbuch With guest starring roles from John Brotherton, Lori Loughlin, Bob Saget, John Stamos and Dave Coulier Here we are 4 seasons later and Fuller House still has us yearning for more. I must say this spinoff is more than successful. Full House fans are more than satisfied watching DJ, Steph, and Kimmy "sharing" their lives with us. Just as the child stars before them, Michael, Elias, Soni, Dashiell and Fox are growing up before our eyes and we are so glad that our favorite family is back, welcoming us home each season. Fuller House is the most successful reboot/comeback to date. Others have tried but have not captured the magic of the original show like Fuller House has. With continued surprise visits from Lori Loughlin (Becky), Bob Saget (Danny), John Stamos (Un

Restaurant Review: La Dulce Vita Courthouse Bakery

Image
La Dolce Vita Courthouse Bakery is a charming little bakery in Lancaster City located across the street from the Lancaster County Courthouse. When taking a stroll down Duke Street or needing a break from a case, La Dolce Vita is the place to be. Be aware that the name can be deceiving. It's not a bakery for the courthouse and it's not just a bakery. On my visit with my husband on September 22nd, we found they sell more than baked goods. Their sandwiches, salads and sides are simply mouthwatering. I ordered their roast beef BLT and antipasti salad while my husband ordered their pastrami and cheese sandwich. It sounds like a basic order but the flavors are anything but. We took a seat outside at one of their charming little black tables. It's great for people watching and just enjoying your surroundings. It may be clear that you are in the city but it gives you the comfort of feeling like you're in a whole separate world. The staff is very friendly that even on your

Movie Review: The Kissing Booth

Image
The Kissing Booth Starring: Joey King, Molly Ringwald Most films that follow the journey to two friends usually end up in them splitting ways, getting together, or just having happily ever after as friendship soulmates (non-romantic). This is not that film. Joey King plays Elle, a young lady blossoming into herself. In other words, she's finding herself and in ways mostly has. Elle is strong, vibrant, and her own person. Her best friend Lee, well very much his own person as well. It's almost like they defined each other. They're the type of best friends who could easily get lost in each other or in Elle and Lee's case, their friend rules. The biggest rule is rule #9 which pretty much forbids them from dating the other's siblings. Unfortunately Elle develops a major crush on Lee's brother Noah. The question becomes will she betray her friend's rule and follow her heart? Maybe but sometimes fate has a funny way making things happen. For a school fundrai

Movie Review: Like Father

Image
Like Father Starring Kelsey Grammer and Kristen Bell A heartwarming story about second chances. The delightful Kristen Bell plays workaholic Rachel Hamilton who gets left at the altar on her wedding day and to make matters worse, an unexpected, uninvited guest appears in the crowd; her long lost father, Harry (played by the charming Kelsey Grammer). After conducting business on her wedding day, Rachel's fiance, Owen, leaves her at the altar. In the same instance, her father decides to disappear as well. Faced with a honeymoon already booked, no husband, and the mysterious reappearance of her father, Rachel invites her dad on her honeymoon (both drunk of course). Movie Review-Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle

Image
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Nick Jonas How can you have Jumanji without the late great Robin Williams? Not every reboot of a film and/or series is a good one or a smart one however this film, I am happy to admit, proved me wrong. As we know from the original film, there was closure so there was no need for the reprisal of those specific characters but like most films who reinvent the original story, I expected it to flop even with its talented cast . Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle centers around four school kids who bond in detention (a reminder of Breakfast Club anyone?). During their clean up task they come across a game console. As predicted they succumb to their curiosity and begin playing the game. Once they accept acceptance of the players, the game sucks them in placing them in the center of the jungle. They find that their mission is to return the Jaguar's eye to lift the curse on Jumanji. What mak

Movie Review: The Dark Tower

Image
The Dark Tower Starring Matthew McConaughey & Idris Elba Idris Elba plays Roland, the lone gunslinger whose main duty is to protect the dark tower from the man in black otherwise known as Walter portrayed by our favorite, dashing Southern gentleman Matthew McConaughey. Walter's goal is to use the minds of children to take down the tower so he may raise havoc into any world of his choosing. After Walter destroys his father, Roland starts his journey to face Walter and avenge his father's death. However his plans are spoiled when a young boy named Jake enters his world in hopes of figuring out his visions and destroy the man in black. The two team up on a quest to save the dark tower, children, and the world. I must admit I haven't read the book but the movie was superb. It keeps you on the edge of your seat and Idris Elba is the perfect gunslinger; mysterious, strong, and yes, sexy too. He was charming, daring as the gunslinger; even taking a fatherly role to young

Film Review: Fifty Shades Freed

Image
Fifty Shades Freed Starring Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan, Rita Ora, Marcia Gay Harden, Jennifer Ehle and Kim Basinger I couldn't very well list all the stars now could I? I got the bulk of them. Are you sensing a bit of reviewer hostility? Of course you are and now you're going to find out why. *There are spoilers so if you haven't seen this film, you've been warned. The film opens with Ana and Christian's wedding. The vows were unfeeling, emotionless, a mere delivery of a line. I don't feel a love between them; It's more of a lust and obsession than love. Christian shows his childishness during their honeymoon in "boobland" or France. He gets controlling when she wants to be like the French girls, sunbathe topless. Christian is like a jealous little boy. That's what he acts like. In the club scene, a man walks up behind Ana, grabs her hips and tries to dance with her. He tries to hit on Ana when she slaps him. Christian immediately step

Full Film Review: Jem and the Holograms the movie

Image
Released: October 23, 2015 Starring: Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko, Ryan Guzman, Molly Ringwald, & Juliette Lewis For those not familiar with Jem and the Holograms, this film is based on the original '80s cartoon Jem and the Holograms. Some of you may have read my pre-review that was based on the trailer which I completely ripped the film apart. I was looking forward to doing that once I saw the film but I can't; that's right, I can't rip the film apart. The story itself has been reinvented to stray away from the cartoon. The problem with doing this is that those of us who are big fans of the cartoon find ourselves extremely disappointed. The film is missing the key elements of the story that made us love the cartoon however I must give the director, stylists, and writers, credit because when you look closely at certain elements, the basis of the cartoon are there. With that said, let's dive right in shall we? In this live

Film Review: Suite Francaise

Image
Suite Francaise Starring Michelle Williams, Matthias Schoenaerts, & Kristin Scott Thomas An enchanting film based on the book by Irene Nemirovsky. It's a love story in the mist of World War II creating a Romeo & Juliet type atmosphere. Lucile's husband is away at war as she resides with her mother in law in France. France is captured by the Germans and the French find their homes to be no longer their own as they are forced to house German soldiers as requested. Much to their dismay Lucile and her mother in law are asked to provide housing for a German officer named Bruno. Though reluctant at first, Lucile begins to open up to the German soldier and he opens up to her. They become friends in the sense that allowed them at the time to be but those feelings grow especially after Lucile discovers a heartbreaking truth about her absent husband. Through their time together, Lucile and Bruno eventually give in to their desires knowing that what they're doing is forb

Superman: The Legend & His Many Incarnations

Image
Superman has been an icon to the world since his debut in 1938. It's hard to believe that this fantastic hero that has mesmerized us for decades came from the mere imagination of high school students Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster in 1933. Little did these two talents know that their creation would grow as big as he has. Since his creation Superman has gone through many incarnations, played by different actors, each one better than the last. Well, almost. For the first time I watched the original Superman films starring Christopher Reeve so I invite you to take a journey with me through time as I give my thoughts on each portrayal and storyline. (*Note: For the ladies there is much eye candy to take in here as we know that Superman is also quite the looker.) Bud Collyer was the first to bring the man of steel to life in the radio series The Adventures of Superman in 1940 but eight years later in 1948, fans would see the man of steel in he LIVE action movie serial, Superman . Music Review-Camila Cabello

Image
Camila by Camila Cabello Camila has certainly proven her star power with her debut album Camila . It's not easy to leave a popular group and successfully make a name for yourself but she has done it! Camila's voice is fresh, sultry, and sexy. She proves her vocal range is like no other. She can be playful like on the track "Inside Out," full blown sexy Latina like her first single "Havana," or give some chilling grooves with the track "All These Years." The layout of the tracks is pure genius because it really builds up your appetite then keeps you there. "Never Be the Same" is the perfect opening track. It entices your curiosity about this girl. What else does she have to offer? You're hooked instantly and her voice just carries you through the rest of the album. From the infectious "Havana" to the sincerity and pain of "Consequences," Camila has your full attention, not seeming to let you go so easily. Once

2018 Movie Picks 1

Image
Tomb Raider Starring Alicia Vikander, Kristin Scott Thomas, Dominic West, Hannah John-Kamen, & Walton Goggins Release Date: March 16, 2018 Lara Croft has been absent from the big screen since 2003's Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life with Angelina Jolie bringing the empowered hero to life. Never did we think we would see another Tomb Raider movie especially without the great Angelina Jolie. She was the perfect LIVE action Lara but I feel I stand corrected. With this new Tomb Raider movie, Swedish actress Alicia Vikander brings the legend of Lara Croft back to the big screen and in a big way. Tomb Raider is based off the reboot of Lara's story with the Tomb Raider video game which takes us to the depths of her origins. Judging by the trailer, it seems to follow the video game almost to a "T." Alicia embodies the innocence but the strength of the young Lara portrayed in the most recent games. I anticipate seeing the movie and will try my hardest to refrain fro
